Next Generation Science Training

Effective 2016-17, California is in full implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards.  The “big shifts” in these new standards focuses on more hands-on, problem solving, engineering, and scientific approach throughout the science disciplines.  We recommend everyone watch the Paul Andersen video series on the Next Generation Science Standards (watch them with your students if you want to trigger some great discussions about how you’re doing science at home, and how you can get your student more involved).

This video series contains brief videos on each of the following:

  • 8 Science and Engineering Practices
  • 7 Crosscutting Concepts
  • 44 Disciplinary Core Ideas

This is a great way to deepen your understanding of the new science standards, and support your instructional delivery of science!

You can find all 60 videos here:

Also, we have posted CWCS approved vendors who offer hands-on science kits and activities on our Recommended Curriculum Page for your convenience.
