Math Department Goals

Math Department


  • Increase proficiency in California math standards through development and promotion of "I CANs" resources for grades K-8
  • Provide a variety of math courses both online and at the learning center(s)
  • Provide drop-in tutoring at the school learning center(s) to assist students and parents with math-related questions
  • Train and utilize high school students, if available, as peer tutors during drop-in hours
  • Provide oversight for math HQTs (highly qualified teachers)  participating in portfolio reviews and as outside vendors
  • Expand enrichment opportunities for students in grades 6-12 through math competitions and the CWCS Math Club
  • Implement the Mathematics Placement Act and CWCS Mathematics Placement Policy for middle school and high school students
  • Provide resources for parents and ESs to increase rigor and implement state standards in mathematics
  • Implement intensive instruction for struggling students with Developmental Math classes
